No knitting February!

I’ve had a very slack month on the knitting front and haven’t knitted more than an inch of a sock! It has been a busy month in other regards so I don’t feel too bad that my only completed yarn project for the month was a small and very simple crocheted dishcloth!

Not very impressive I know but here is what else I did:

  • Made three blouses from Liberty fabrics in my stash (including one I forgot to write a post about)
  • Attended a terrific 1 day overlocking class with Kate from Sew Into Overlocking, hosted by Heights Sewing Centre in Geelong. This restored my confidence in my overlocking ability and I now have a couple of knit projects planned for the next few months
  • Attended a two day Getting Started with Patchwork class given by Zoe at Bellarine Sewing Centre in Geelong. This was a great introduction to cutting and piecing patchwork in ten hours of class time. There was just a small amount of homework and I only needed an extra hour to complete the quilt top we made in class once I got it home (including unpicking a few seams I was unhappy with)

Also, I may have forgotten to mention that I made all those blouses on a fancy new sewing machine I bought at Heights Sewing Centre. It’s a BERNINA 770 QE Plus and it’s so advanced I’ve been working my way through the Mastery Workbook BERNINA puts out just so I can understand all the things it can do. Well, one of the things it can do is fancy quilting motifs so I’ll shortly be using that feature to turn the patchwork quilt top I made in class into a full quilt! I’m very excited to have a machine that can sew, embroider and quilt and I can’t wait to try out a whole new range of sewing projects 😀
